In November 2013, the EFI acquired a 38% share in the pharmaceutical company Invent Farma in Spain, largely owned by Icelandic shareholders. The purchasing price was 6.4 billion ISK. The EFI led, along with investors, the financial and operational reconstruction of the company. It was refinanced, and all its real estate were purchased fully. The company was sold to the British Enterprise Investment Fund Apax Partners in June 2016.
